Goal Scorer: Erling Braut Haaland (94′)
3 key points from the game:
- Possession with no creation
For most of the game, both teams were in possession with not much creation. In a relegation battle with 7 games to play and only 2 points separating the teams from safety, it is understandable that Fortuna Düsseldorf would look to play on the break and keep it tight at the back. At the same time, Borussia Dortmund managed to hold a massive amount of the possession but could not manage any penetrative passes that would trouble the Fortuna backline.
The two chance that happened in the first half fell into Dortmund’s way when on the 20’ Hakimi was put though on goal by Sancho on a counter attack that he only managed to only shoot straight at the keeper with a left footed shot despite being 1 on 1 with the keeper. 15 mins later, Julian brant managed to wriggle his way into the box, beating the keeper before losing control of the ball at the last moment, ending a good opportunity. The half ended goalless with neither side looking like they would be capable of making chances. Most of the first half was played in Düsseldorf’s half with the intensity of a pre-season friendly. The second half started out in similar fashion until the 65th minute when Guerreiro’s goal was cancelled out by VAR as it was deemed handball. A good one-two by Dortmund found haaland in the box, who took a shot that was blocked by Fortuna defenders. The ball found its way to Guereirro’s shoulder, ricocheting into the air before he managed a first time volley past the keeper. Unfortunately and incorrectly – VAR intervened.
This galvanized Fortuna and they piled on the pressure against Dortmund and on one of the chances in the 81 min, Skryzbski who came on in the 75th min, took a shot from outside the box that beat roman burki but hit the post. Fellow substitute Alfredo Morales also came close to scoring from the resulting corner, but was let down by his touch. 8 mins later, Skrzybski was again given an opportunity as he broke past a Dortmund defence line that was so close to the centre line but once again, luck deserted him as his thunderous host crashed against the woodwork.
As Dortmund tried to find a winning goal by sending mat hummels to play as a striker, they managed an opportunity when Hummels, headed a ball down to brandt who laid it off to the defender, who then tried to cross it, but was blocked by Fortuna defenders.Manual Akanji picked up the ball, and whipped in an in-swinging cross perfectly for Erling Haaland who was being kept quiet since his introduction for Axel Witsel to glance the ball home and secure the points for relegation threatened Fortuna Düsseldorf.
2. Possibly a lack of motivation for Borussia Dortmund
For much of the game, Dortmund seemed in control, but they did not have the intensity or creativity going forward. This can be due to them not needing to be adventurous seeing how they are 10 points ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Champions’ league spots or the fact that the title is already in Bayern Munich’s hands. They played virtually in gear 2 the entire game and in all honesty, were slightly fortunate to have won the game. There is 7 games to go, with the only competition being who finishes 2nd or 3rd in the table, but Lucien Favre must find a way to motivate his team to finish the season strong or risk spectacularly dropping out of top 4.
3. Luck was not on their side, but left it too late.
Fortuna Düsseldorf are in a relegation battle where every point count. 2 points from safety against a team in 2nd place they played it safe and kept it tight at the back. Credit to them they struck when the iron was hot, following the wrong decision by VAR officials and came close twice to snatching 3 priceless points only to be denied by the posts.
Having played a game more than Mainz and Augsburg, who both play on 14 June, it could end up being a 4 point gap that would be awaiting them on gameweek 32. With 3 games left to play, the 2 games against Union Berlin and Augsburg in the last 2 games of the season will be so crucial to them. But they have to contest with RB leipzing and that game could make or break their season depending on results all around them.
Some methods and equipment allow altering the apparent DOF, and some even allow the DOF to be determined after the image is made. For example, Focus stacking combines multiple images focused on different planes, resulting in an image with a greater (or less, if so desired) apparent depth of field than any of the individual source images. Similarly, in order to reconstruct the 3-dimensional shape of an object, a depth map can be generated from multiple photographs with different depths of field. This method is called “shape from focus.”
Other technologies use a combination of lens design and post-processing: Wavefront coding is a method by which controlled aberrations are added to the optical system so that the focus and depth of field can be improved later in the process.
